Working systematically with the work environment is an investment that benefits well-being and performance in the workplace. Our Better Work Environment – online course provides you with the basic knowledge to create a safe and healthy work environment, whether you are a manager or a safety representative. You work on it at your own pace, whenever it suits you.

Better Work Environment – online is the digital version of the popular BWE – Better Work Environment course. The course has been updated in 2025 to follow the Swedish Work Environment Authority’s new regulatory structure, which means a clearer division of rules to facilitate understanding and application in practice. You will acquire practical tools and up-to-date knowledge to help you identify, prevent and manage work environment risks effectively. The course was developed on behalf of employers and trade unions.

How the course works

• 13 sections The course is divided into thirteen sections featuring theory, practical tasks and questions to reflect upon.
• Learning on your terms You can pause at any time and pick up where you left off. You can also go back and repeat content.
• Practical tasks You carry out tasks immediately in your own organisation, kickstarting your work environment management. After the course, you will already be up and running!
• Swedish and English version You get access to both!

We recommend that you set aside around three days to complete the course.

Support and follow-up

• Test and certificate The course ends with a test, which gives you a certificate as confirmation of your newly acquired knowledge.

Access and validity

You can access the course for 12 months from the date of purchase, giving you plenty of time to review and deepen your knowledge.

The training has been developed by the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, LO, and PTK in collaboration with Prevent, and reflects the parties’ shared view of what constitutes essential knowledge about the work environment.

Purpose

To promote effective collaboration in the workplace by teaching fundamental work environment knowledge and providing a practical approach that makes it easier to integrate health and safety into everyday work.

Goals

After completing the training, you should be able to:

• collaborate on work environment issues
• identify and prevent workplace risks
• understand how a good work environment supports the organization
• know where to find the information needed for daily health and safety work

Format

The training is digital and works on computers, tablets, and smartphones. We recommend setting aside three days to complete it, and it can advantageously be divided into shorter sessions. The training consists of thirteen modules, each taking approximately 25 minutes to complete. Each module includes facts, videos, and exercises, and ends with a few questions to reinforce what you’ve learned.

After each module, you’ll be given an assignment to complete at your own workplace. You’ll write your responses in a workbook that you download from the course. The results can be used as a basis for continued work after the training is finished. In other words, you’ve already started your work environment journey!

Target Group

New managers, new safety or work environment representatives, other union representatives, and employees in need of work environment knowledge. The training is also suitable for those who have been working for a while but have not yet completed a basic work environment course.
