Everyday Fairness is a basic work environment course focusing on community and cooperation, and how everyone can work together to foster a good work environment. It is aimed at employees and students in the hospitality industry.
This is a new version of the course Everyday Fairness.
In this course you will learn about the importance of a good introduction, planning and procedures, as well as good communication with guests and colleagues.
You will also learn how you can help each other out to handle and manage difficult situations such as stress and abuse. The course also deals with how to deal with upset or threatening guests and how to act if a difficult situation has occurred.
Your guide through the course is Sofia Henriksson, winner of MasterChef Sweden in 2020.
The course comes with training material and a shorter guide that you can use to work on the course in groups in the workplace or during training.
Course objectives
Among other things, the course will teach you about:
- understanding that you are part of the work environment and your role
- understanding the importance of a good induction, procedures and planning
- learning how to prevent stress
- learning how to prevent difficult situations such as sexual harassment and abuse
- learning what to do when a guest is behaving in a threatening or otherwise abusive manner
- understanding the benefits of working towards a good work environment
- learning how to work to improve the work environment in the long term.
Target group
Everyone who works in or is training to work in the hospitality industry – restaurants, hotels, camp sites, amusement parks, youth hostels, spa facilities, tourist offices, ski facilities – as well as students.
Scope
The course consists of three chapters, takes about 75 minutes to complete, and concludes with a test. A fourth chapter (about twenty minutes long) is aimed at managers, safety representatives and anyone who wants to learn more. You can take a break or return to an earlier section to repeat anything at any time.
